Book Drive

To benefit the Elementary School children served by the Reading Tutoring Program of Fresno Covenant Foundation

In May of 2006 we held a Book Drive because we heard that many of the children in this program had no books of their own. We raised over 8,000 books. The children and their parents were so delighted that we continue to rack our brains to think of other ways to help this great organization and these very special children.

Many local businesses helped out by being drop-off locations. The local media was very helpful in spreading the word. We were guests on KSEE Sunrise and SoftRock 98.9. Bill McEwen wrote a column about the Book Drive in the Fresno Bee, and CUSD Today also wrote a story.

But what brought the most results were the children of Mickey Cox Elementary who heard that there were children their own ages who had no books - they organized a competition between classes and raised over 5,000 books in just over a week.

In 2007 we didn’t hold a Book Drive because the coordination was very time

consuming. As much as we appreciate all the help we got from media and businesses - we will go directly to school children starting in 2008..
